oolong teas

Shop online for loose-leaf oolong (or wulong) teas sourced directly from the artisan farmers who tender them. Oolong teas are truly remarkable, full bodied in both flavour and aroma, ranging from green and floral to dark and roasted with many notes in-between. This is all thanks to a unique roasting process that can last from 12 to 36 hours. Our artisan farmers take great pride in their work, reflected in the sophistication and elegance of oolong tealeaves. Whether you're fond of a toasty malt flavour of Wuyi Ensemble or prefer lighter greenery of the Iron Goddess herself Ti Guan Yin, this tea type will have something for you to treasure with every sip. Our direct trade sourcing straight from artisan growers ensures superior taste, freshness and value.

Oolong Tea Characteristics and Benefits

Oolong teas sit between green and black tea, with oxidation levels that can range from lightly oxidised to preserve fresh, floral notes to more deeply oxidised styles that bring warmth, depth, and roasted complexity. Depending on origin and craftsmanship, flavours may lean mineral and fruity, smooth and buttery, or distinctly floral with honeyed, lingering sweetness. Like other true teas, oolong contains naturally occurring antioxidants, and many people choose it for a focused, steady lift thanks to its moderate caffeine content - all while delivering remarkable flavour.

Loose, Bagged and Iced

Our oolong teas are available in loose leaf form, with select favourites also offered in pyramid tea bags and iced-tea pouches. To make sampling effortless, our oolong tea sampler includes single-serve loose leaf portion packs, so you can brew at home, at work, or wherever the day takes you.

Does loose-leaf tea contain caffeine?

Yes - loose leaf oolong tea naturally contains caffeine. Whole-leaf oolong teas typically provide around 30-50 mg of caffeine per cup (about 250 ml). The exact amount varies by tea type, steeping time, and water temperature. If you’d like a lower-caffeine option, explore our decaffeinated teas or choose from our naturally caffeine-free herbal blends.

How long should loose-leaf oolong tea be steeped?

Steep loose leaf oolong tea according to its style. Darker, more roasted oolongs are typically best at 5-7 minutes with freshly boiled water (90-100°C), while greener, lighter oolongs often shine at 3-5 minutes using slightly cooler water (about 90°C). For a stronger, bolder cup, steep a little longer; for a lighter brew, reduce the time.
